What are the Courses Available?

There are two major types of study courses available in Aerospace technology:

Aerospace Engineering and Avionics Engineering.

Aerospace Engineering is a course related to the Design, Construction and Maintenance of Aircrafts, Spacecrafts, Satellites, and Missiles. There are two courses available in Aerospace Engineering.

1) Aeronautical Engineering

2) Astronautical Engineering

In Aeronautical Engineering, the curriculum mainly focuses on the Design and Construction of Aircraft, Propulsion systems, and the workings of Aeronautics. The sector strives for the development of systems principles and Technologies in the Global environment.

Astronautical Engineering is the study and development of Mechanical systems in Space operating beyond the Earth's atmosphere. They also study the orbiting Satellites operating close to the Earth's atmosphere.

Both these courses are based on the principles of Physics. Therefore, the courses are interrelated with each other.

Aerospace Engineers …

Aerospace Engineers are creative thinkers in the field of Astronomy. They specialize in Manufacturing, Construction, Analysis, Research and Development of Aircraft, Missiles, Home Defense Systems, Aerospace, as well as Commercial, Military Aircraft, Helicopters, Rotorcraft, Remote- piloted Aircraft, Satellite Launch Systems, and Rockets. There are endless possibilities. In addition, there are opportunities for those who have knowledge in Electronic systems and Computer Programming skills. Their main job is to Create, design various Aeronautical Systems and make them work to meet specific expectations.

Important Functions/ Duties of Aerospace Engineers:

 Create, design, manufacturing and testing of various Aeronautical systems.

How to Pursue a Career in it:

Doing a Degree at the Engineering level is the first step in entering the Aerospace field. Mechanical Engineering Basics, Thermodynamics, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Mathematics, Heat and Transfer, Fluid Dynamics Subjects, Aerodynamics, Aero Elastics, Driving System, Computer, Programming, Simulation, Modelling, etc,. Learning the programming languages ​​of Python, C++, MatLab, HTML requires at least a good understanding of Database systems such as Excel. Aerospace Engineers should not only design in alternative ways but also critically analyze why a proposed design is good and why it is not useful. The process will take into account a variety of factors, such as the need for raw materials, the need for other Resources, Security, Government Sanctions, Regulations, Profitability for the Organization, Quality Standards, and Acceptability.

Mathematics, Physics:

In this Branch the principles of Addition, Subtraction, Trigonometry, etc,. are widely applied. That is why Mathematics should be practiced well. In addition, the basics of Physics should be known.

Problem Solving:

A thorough understanding of the issues requires careful analysis. Finding answers to Analysis, Building new designs, increasing Energy Efficiency, and finding efficient answers to persistent problems such as Security systems, that is, understanding how much problem- solving techniques are needed.

Expression:

Aerospace Engineers are required to work in co-ordination not only with their own department, but also with Engineering staff from other Departments, the Government, Environmental and Astronomical Agencies, and other groups. It requires good oral and written Communication skills. Also be able to standardize various reports keeping in view future needs.

Opportunities in Future:

 Job opportunities in the Aerospace Engineering branch are expected to grow by 3 to 4% by current estimates. There is a lot of potential for growth in this field. Starting with a career starting with an annual salary of INR. 4 to 6 lakhs, the salary is also likely to increase exponentially as Experience increases. The average annual salary ranges from INR. 8 to 9 lakhs. It has opportunities if it wants to go to the level of ownership that plays a decisive role.

 Major changes are taking place in Aircraft construction methods. As the sector expands with the goals of Low cost, Energy efficiency, Nano technology, and the use of Virtual Reality (VR), there is scope for Research and Development. There is also a great opportunity for Startups. Various Organizations are also taking the initiative to develop unmanned Aerial and Aeronautical systems.

✩ The Aerospace giant, ‘Boeing’ has made our country the hub for conducting its business transactions in South Asian countries. Establishing a Bangalore- based industry, it has entered into MoUs with startups to grow its Business. The company predicts that by 2024, India will be the third largest market in the Aviation sector. In line with this, Boeing and other multi-national companies already in the field are taking steps to expand their Businesses. In addition to Aerospace Engineers, the services of skilled Data analytics, IoT, and Machine learning Engineers are also required. Companies can use these services either through startups or through recruitment.

 Opportunities are also good Abroad but there are no direct jobs at the B.Tech level. There are opportunities to do MS. In the US, companies like NASA and Lockheed Martin are hiring but one should have a Green card to get a job in this field.

✩ Boeing has recently established its second largest Engineering facility in Bangalore, after its headquarters in Seattle, USA.

✩ Leading American company Lockheed Martin Aero Structures has formed a joint venture with Tata in Hyderabad to manufacture various components and Aircraft tail systems for its parent company worldwide.

✩ Honeywell‌ Company, G.E. Leading Aviation and Aerospace companies like Aviation and Delta Airlines have already established their branches in the country. Utilizing quality Human resources here, they contribute to the development of their organizations and to our country. The cities of Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune in our country are ideal for setting up Aerospace companies.

 This is the area most severely affected by the effects of the corona. According to Dassault Systems, a leading French company headquartered in Bangalore, achieving production targets using depleted Human resources has become a major challenge during the Corona era. However, the corona era brought to the fore the importance and necessity of Digitization. In the wake of these difficulties some new innovations in this field have also taken place. For example, Honeywell has invented a new portable ultra-violet sanitizer to sanitize the cabin surface.

 Projects in this field are long-term and can take a long time to get approved by various Government, Ministries, and other Agencies, so long- term jobs can be planned.
