Library Science is an Interdisciplinary Subject. It's an outcome of Information Science and Library Studies. It deals with the organization, arrangement, preservation, collection, shelving, categorization, and management of library materials such as books, texts, titles, journals, newspapers, and old editions. As per these job recommendations, Librarians are trained to collect, organize, develop, evaluate, use, and manage the information. They play an essential role in maintaining the information in the form of books, videos, audio, and digital files. Librarians know how to search for particular information in databases and How we use this information ethically. Simply, A person who manages library resources is called a librarian. He is also referred to as Information Resource Manager. The Library is the central object of study in every college and institution. However we all to know about the importance of libraries.. not only specified for students, they play a key role in our lives also. 

What is Library Science? Most of them think of Library Science, which is a course only about choosing books for purchase or processing orders and creating bibliographic records for readers, which maintains the catalog as per need. But the reality, it is a Management of Information under any form. Libraries play a crucial role in the academic world. Library science is popular in areas such as Management, Information Technology, and Education.. which may collect or organize, preserve, and prioritize information resources as well.

Eligibility criteria: 
Certificate/ Diploma/ PGD:

To pursue a Certificate in Library Science, need to pass in 10+2 in any stream, from a recognized board. This course duration is 1 year.

UG: For admission into the Bachelor's in Library Science course, need any Graduate level degree from any recognized university/ board with an aggregation mark of 50 - 55% is required. This course duration is 1 year.

PG: To pursue an M.LibSc, He/ She is required to pass a Bachelor in Library Science (BLiSc) or in relevant is required with an aggregation of a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized board/ university. This course duration is 1 year.

MLib: This is a full-time regular course with a duration of 1- 2 years. This may vary from the Research and teaching skills of the aspirant.

Ph.D: To pursue a Ph.D in Library Science, He/ She is required to pass in post-graduation or M.Phill in relevant from a recognized university/ board with an aggregation of 50% marks. Moreover, a minimum of 5 years of experience in Teaching or Administration are eligible for this course to study. They also appeared for the entrance examination conducted by the university. This course duration is 2 - 3 years.

Entrance Exams: OU, UGCNET, CSIR, NEt, SLET & IGNOU.

Fee Structure:
❖ Diploma: INR. 7,400- INR. 75000 (Total fee)

❖ UG: INR. 5,400 - INR. 2.48L per entire course

❖ PG: INR. 8,500 - INR. 2.42L per total fee

❖ Ph.D: INR. 85,000 - INR. 6L per entire course.
