The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has released a notification (CEN No. 01/2026) to fill Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) posts across various railway zones nationwide.

Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP): 11,127
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed the 10th standard (Matriculation) from a recognized board or institution, in addition to holding an ITI, Diploma, or Engineering Degree in the relevant trades. Candidates who have appeared for their final-year examinations and are awaiting results are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age as of July 1, 2026. As per regulations, an age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates, and 3 years for OBC (NCL) candidates.
Salary: Selected candidates will receive a starting basic pay of Rs. 19,900 per month under Pay Level-2 (as per the 7th Pay Commission), along with other applicable allowances.
Application Mode: Applications must be submitted exclusively through the online mode. Candidates are permitted to apply to only one RRB (Railway Recruitment Board).
Application Fee: Rs. 250 for candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Women, Transgender persons, Minorities, and Economically Backward Classes (EBC). (This amount will be refunded after appearing for the first-stage examination.) Rs. 500 for all other candidates. (Rs. 400 will be refunded after appearing for the examination.)
Selection Process: Candidates will be selected through a total of five stages:
First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-1).
Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-2).
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
Document Verification (DV).
Medical Examination (ME).
Important Dates:
Application Start Date: May 15, 2026.
Application End Date: June 14, 2026 (up to 11:59 PM).
Fee Payment Deadline: June 16, 2026.
Application Modification Window: From June 17 to June 26, 2026.
