Eligibility: 

Candidates must be citizens of India and must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Educationally, applicants for the Flying and Weapon Systems branches must have cleared 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics alongside a minimum three-year Graduation or a four-year BE/B.Tech degree with specified minimum marks. For Ground Duty (Technical), a four-year graduation or integrated post-graduation degree in engineering fields is mandatory, or a valid GATE score obtained within the past three years. Non-Technical branches accept various bachelor's or postgraduate degrees depending on the stream, such as B.Com/CA/CMA for Accounts and Post-Graduation for Education. Candidates currently in their final year can also apply if they have no backlogs.

Age Limit: 20-24 years for the Flying Branch. Candidates for the Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branch must be between 20 and 26 years of age.

Pay Scale: Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 for a Flying Officer.

Selection Procedure:

The selection process involves multiple stages starting with the online AFCAT written examination conducted across various shifts (featuring a marking system of +3 for correct answers and -1 for wrong answers). Candidates who clear the written exam or apply via exempted pathways (such as NCC Special Entry or GATE entry) are called to report to one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSB). Testing at AFSB involves Stage-I (Officer Intelligence Rating test and Picture Perception & Discussion test) and Stage-II (Psychological test, Group Tests, and Interview). Flying branch candidates must additionally clear the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS). A medical examination follows, after which a final merit list determines inclusion.

Application Fee: Rs. 550 + GST. NCC Special Entry & GATE Score Entry: Exempted from paying the application/examination fee.
