GATE 2027 Notification

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2027) is a national-level examination conducted by IIT Madras. It assesses candidates’ understanding of undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology and Architecture, as well as subjects in Science, Humanities, Commerce and Arts. The GATE 2027 score is valid for three years from the date of result announcement.

Eligibility: Candidates currently studying in the third year or higher of an approved undergraduate degree programme, or those who have already completed an eligible degree, can apply for GATE 2027, subject to the qualification requirements specified for the respective programmes.

How to Apply:

Candidates must apply online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) available on the official GATE 2027 website. The application, document uploads and other formalities must be completed online. Candidates do not need to send hard copies of their application or documents to IIT Madras or GATE offices.

Application Fee:

The application fee per test paper is Rs.1,000 for women, SC/ST PwBD; for other categories and foreign students, the fee is Rs.2,000.

Exam Pattern: The computer-based test lasts 3 hours and includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type questions. The exam carries 100 marks for 65 questions.

Start of online applications: 14.08.2026

Last date: 21.09. 2026

Last date with late fee: 30.09.2026

Last date for changes to category/paper/examination center: 21.10.2026

Examination dates: The exam will be held next year on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21 (Saturdays and Sundays) in two sessions: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM.
