Branches in diploma:
✪ Civil, Architectural Assistantship, Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer, Information technology, Mining, Commercial and Computer practice, Garment technology, Craft technology, Home science, Metallurgical, Chemical, Ceramic Engineering and technology, Textile, Refrigeration and Air conditioning, Petroleum technology, Petrochemical technology, Packaging technology, Printing, technology Can choose. These courses are offered for a period of three to three and a half years.
✪ Those who are passionate about technology and want to settle into a career at an early age are preferred to join Diploma courses. Depending on the department in which the student is enrolled, he can get a job or self- employment immediately after completing the course or they can step towards higher education. Technical Education Training Institutes in the two Telugu States give admission to diploma students by conducting a Joint Entrance Examination (POLYCET) under the Technical Education boards of the two telugu states individually. These include admission to Public, Aided and Private Polytechnic colleges for a period of three years, followed by various Diploma courses. Questions from Maths and Physical Science sections of the tenth- class syllabus will be asked in the entrance examination. Some institutes offer Diploma + B.Tech course with a duration of six years after tenth class. Those who are interested can join in this course.
Higher education:
Those who want to make a step towards higher education after Diploma can join B.Tech second year courses directly with ECET. EAMCET, IIT- JEE entrance exams can also be written to join a B.Tech course. Job holders with Diploma Qualification can complete Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE) course equivalent to B.Tech offered by the Institution of Engineers. Then you can step towards M.Tech.
Diploma in Plastic engineering:
The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) offers three-year diploma in Plastics Mould Technology (DPMT) and Diploma in Plastics Technology (DPT) courses at Hyderabad and Vijayawada campuses. This institute gives admission via entrance examination. After the completion of these courses, one can get job opportunities in Plastic and its Allied Industries, Plastics Utility Companies etc,. B.Tech courses are also available on Plastic Engineering.
Horticultural diplomas:
Many job opportunities are available in the Telugu states on parks and its management under the Horticulture department. Seats are awarded in horticultural diplomas according to the merit in tenth grade. This course duration is two years. Teaching will be in Telugu medium. After diploma, one can join B.Sc.(Hons) in Horticulture course. Some seats have been specially allotted for this purpose. Those who have studied for at least four years in rural areas of the respective states (AP/ Telangana) are eligible for admission. AP is offering two- year Diploma in Horticulture diploma Courses under the auspices of Dr. YSR Horticultural University, Venkataramannagudem (West Godavari District). There are Public and Private Horticulture Polytechnic colleges affiliated to the university. In Telangana, Sri Konda Lakshman Diploma in Horticulture course under Telangana State Horticultural University is available and the course duration is two years.
Handloom Technology:
In Telugu states, Sri Pragada Kotaiah Memorial Indian Institute of Handloom Technology is located in Venkatagiri, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District. This institute offers a three-year Handloom and Textiles Technology Diploma course. Out of a total of 47 seats, 60 seats have been allotted to students studying in Telugu states. Students are selected based on the performance 10+2. Jobs are available in Textile Manufacturing Companies upon completion of the course. For the first year students, 1,000 rupees per month is given as scholarship. 1100 rupees and 1200 rupees per month scholarship will be given for second year students and third year students respectively. Karnataka Handloom Technology Institute, Gadag also allotted some seats for Telugu students.
Diploma in Agriculture:
✪ Many Public and Private Polytechnic Colleges in both the Telugu states are offering Agriculture courses to provide opportunities to rural students in Agriculture and Allied fields. The duration of courses are two to three years. Diploma in Agriculture/ Organic Farming/ Seed Technology courses time period is two years. Those who complete these courses can get opportunities in Fertilizer and Pesticide Manufacturing Companies.
✪ You can also join B.Sc Agriculture courses. For these courses, 20 percent of the seats will be filled by AGRICET on a supernumerary basis.
✪ The Diploma in Agricultural Engineering course is offered for a period of three years. One can then join the B.Tech Agri Engineering course after completing this diploma course. Seats are specially allocated for this purpose. Admission to Agricultural Diploma courses is available with tenth class grades. Two- year courses are available in Telugu medium. Admission is given to those students who have studied for at least four years in rural areas of the Telugu states. In AP, there are several Agri- Polytechnic colleges under the auspices of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, both Public and Private Institutions. In Telangana, Professor Jayashankar Agricultural University under the auspices of the state government, and many agricultural polytechnic colleges are also running affiliated to the university.
Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Fisheries:
The Veterinary Diploma Courses were designed with the aim of providing prompt medical services in the villages. Those who complete these courses can get opportunities in Veterinary hospitals, Dairy and Aqua companies. You can practice on your own or self- employed by setting up a relevant unit. Polytechnic diploma Courses in Telugu Medium are offered for a period of two years in all the three disciplines of Animal husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries. After Diploma they can join BVSC and B.Tech Dairy Technology, BFSc and all. Those who have studied for at least four years in rural areas of the states seeking admission are eligible. Seats will be filled according to the merit of the grade points achieved in the tenth class. In AP, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati is running courses. In addition, Dairy Processing Polytechnic, Fisheries Polytechnic courses are offered by various public and private Institutions. In Telangana, P.V. Narasimha Rao is offering Animal Husbandry Polytechnic courses for two years at various institutions under the auspices of Telangana Veterinary University.

Polytechnic courses are said to be close to a professional career. The reason is that it offers good career opportunities. Many leading companies give first priority to the polytechnic students compared to engineering students. Those who complete the courses will have employment opportunities in the public and private sectors.
