Cloud computing

Cloud computing

Cloud computing is one of the technologies that is growing exponentially in the field of Information Technology.

Need of Cloud computing…

Suppose you have a Graphic designer in your home. He/ she needs some software to do work. If someone needs Microsoft applications for office functions, some other software will be required. If someone works on Linux platform, He/ she needs Linux software. Buying different software for different needs is a costly issue, right!

If you want different applications and platforms for everyone's needs, you have to spend a lot for their system and licenses. Is that so? We need to know that new versions of all of the above applications will come every now and then. That means you have to invest money in each version of the license.

Cloud computing

What is the way to reduce these costs?

What should students and employees do to complete their courses and seize the opportunities?

There comes the need of Cloud Computing…

If we do not have enough hard disk space in the system for the songs and videos we have downloaded, we can hire some 'space' in the cloud to store all the stuff.

If 16 GB is required to run an application in your personal computer, but there is no memory to run it, you can hire a system with so much memory in the cloud and use it.

If your friend sent a software from an Apple system. It only opens in software related to Apple system, but yours is a Windows system. Then you can hire an Apple system in the cloud from your system to view the application. There is a facility to pay hourly as long as the system is used.

✶ This Technology is called Cloud computing. It is not only making great changes in the IT field but also helping to reduce many of the unnecessary costs involved in Computing. It is also offering Job opportunities in various fields.

Services of Cloud computing:

1. Infrastructure: The hardware requirements of the users (Storage, Memory, Process power, for mobile).

2. Platform: Different operating systems like Linux, Windows, and, Java, .NET.

3. Applications: Providing services of various software such as Documents, Financial, Learning software.

We can use various computing services from anywhere, from any system and we only pay as per usage just like paying electricity bills.

What kind of careers?

All IT companies and Enterprises are excited about launching cloud- based applications for its benefits. Cloud computing will be in high demand over the next four to five years as all these companies seek to develop new cloud- based solutions to transform their existing applications into cloud- based ones.

Experience in the IT field is required for to seek a career in this field. However, freshers are mostly hired for the development of new applications. Since new technology is always looking for new talent, it is now a good idea for those opting for Engineering and IT based courses to delve into Cloud computing applications.

Ultimately this new technology will give boost to old jobs. Because this is a new platform, for older applications! All older applications are backed upto cloud computing as a support. That means this new technology invites new talent with the help of everyone who has worked so far.

Which ones are best for Training?

Universities are currently offering various trainings and workshops on cloud Architecture. It is advisable to take training on various commercial clouds with the concerned company, like Learning cloud computing software from an Institute authorised by Apple company.

You can contact the centres below for various trainings on Cloud computing. But first take the full details and make a decision in consultation with the students who have already been trained there.

Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT), Bangalore, and Hyderabad:

7- 1- 212/ 6, 1st floor, Lane beside Surya Residency, Shivbagh, Ameerpet, Near S.R. Nagar Police Station, Hyderabad. Knowledge Labs, Chennai.

e-mail: cloud.klabs@gmail.com

NxTech Consulting, Pune:

14-A, 2nd Floor, Aditya Shagun Mall, Bavdhan, Pune 411021.

e-mail: mail@nxtech.in

All of the above companies are private. Cloud computing is a new technology so those who already have any Programming knowledge can be contacted depending on the faculty there.

At Sea-Dock, JNTU:

The Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C- DAC), a government agency, is introducing cloud computing as a module in its Industry- based courses. This is useful for newcomers. JNTU has also introduced Cloud technology as a separate, optional module in its IT and Computing courses. Both C- DAC and JNTU are conducting conferences and workshops on this technology. Freshers, those who are already Studying, Choosing these courses will be beneficial for their career. Knowledge of Cloud technology can be of more weight than useful in oral testing.

Need to polish ... from now on

Companies such as Google, Amazon and Microsoft are already experimenting with cloud computing and trying to adapt their applications. That is why freshers will be greatly improved from now on for opportunities in this field.

Cloud computing has the potential to bring a lot of changes in the overall IT Infrastructure in the near future. Cloud computing should not only provide service-oriented applications to users but also improve the user- desired approach (built- in resilience). So, freshers need to learn how to launch various applications in the cloud.

✶ Students need to develop a prior understanding of the Virtualized environment. Experience using free/ open- source virtualized environments of the applications they are learning/ developing can be very useful for a career. For example, try your applications in Microsoft Virtual Machine/ Zen Virtualized Environment. You can try in public based cloud environments.

Training Opportunities:

Infrastructure: The first Infrastructure as Service is especially useful for those who manage the System, Network and Data center. It requires a variety of operating systems, Storage applications, and a Network environment. So, there are Good opportunities for System and Network administrators. They generally understand cloud computing architecture and have mastered various operating systems as well as Virtualization software. More details can be found through the following websites.

System and Network Admin/ Management Career opportunities ranging from Cloud Installations to management. In addition, there are three types of cloud computing: Public, Private, and Enterprise. Depending on the differences between these, it may play a key role in managing the cloud.

Platform:

Choose a cloud environment that is Java based, developed with dot net based and has a variety of Databases. Those with experience in Java/ .NET/ any other platform will need to take training, especially on Cloud Architecture and Integration.

Freshers, however, need to focus on one platform and raise awareness on different platforms. Must have mastered dot net/ Java/ any other platform especially in their first two years. If you have mastered the cloud in the next three to four years, you have the opportunity to become proficient in Cloud computing.

The following platforms are available in open source so it is advisable for freshers to choose these as project work in their college. One thing to keep in mind here is how useful the Java, C ++, or .NET programming concepts you have to develop these can be. Awareness on these courses needs to be raised.

Software:

Must have knowledge of various software. If you are proficient in any software, any program, it is possible to connect the program you wrote on the Cloud platform to different platforms. Even if you are developing on Windows, the cloud should be able to work with Linux users/ Linux based environment as well.
