UGC National Eligibility Test December 2025
The NTA has been entrusted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with the task of conducting UGC-NET which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for 'award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor', 'appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.' and 'admission to Ph.D. only' in Indian universities and colleges.

Total number of subjects: 85.
Eligibility: Master's degree or equivalent examination with 55% marks. OBC- NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwBD/ Third Gender category candidates require 50% marks.
Age Limit: For JRF not exceed 30 years as on 01.12.2025. There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor.
Examination Mode: Computer Based Examination. The exam will consist of two papers. Both papers will contain objective type, multiple choice questions. Paper-1 will have 50 questions... 100 marks, Paper-2 will have 100 questions... 200 marks. The duration of the examination will be 3 hours.
Application Fee: General/Unreserved Rs.1,150; General- EWS/ OBC- NCL Rs.600; Rs.325 for SC, ST, PwBD, Third Gender.
