The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded its forecast for Indias real gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the current fiscal year 2025 26 (FY26) to 7.3 percent. This represents a significant upward revision of 0.7 percentage point compared with the IMFs previous estimates from late 2025.
The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) released the World Economic Situation and Prospects 2026 report. It predicts that India will grow at 6.6 percent in the 2026-27 financial year and 6.8 percent in the 2027-28 financial year.
Indias pharmaceutical exports reached $30.47 billion in FY 2024 25, registering a year-on-year growth of 9.4 percent, and are on track to surpass last years performance in the current financial year, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL) informed Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal on 5 January 2026.
