UAE

The UAE has approved a major new regulation setting the minimum age for social media use at 15 years, a sweeping move aimed at strengthening child protection in the digital space. The decision was taken by the UAE Cabinet, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on 18 June 2026.

Pakistani Hangor-Class Submarine

The first Pakistani Hangor-class submarine has reached its home port in Karachi. The submarine, named PNS Hangor, is the first of eight submarines of this class to be inducted into the Pakistani Navy by 2028, with four of these submarines to be built in Karachi.

India and Zimbabwe on 4 June 2026 agreed to deepen bilateral defence cooperation by expanding collaboration in training, support and maintenance of common air assets, while exploring new areas such as joint manufacturing, counter-terrorism, border management and peacekeeping.

Khalilur Rahman

Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman was elected the president of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. In a secret-ballot election, Rahman received 99 out of 190 votes, against 91 for Andreas S. Kakouris, special envoy of Cypruss foreign minister for multilateralism.
