Lifetime Achievement Award

Union Minister Jitendra Singh was awarded the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the International Meet of leading medical professionals from around the world. He got this award in recognition of his exemplary dedication to the advancement of diabetology, diabetes care and diabetes research which earned him acknowledgement across the country and overseas.
 

Gandhi Mandela Award 2020

♦ Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchú Tum was honored with the Gandhi Mandela Award 2020. According to the Gandhi Mandela Foundation, the award recognizes individuals who promote peace, harmony, and the values upheld by both Gandhi and Mandela, including community service and social development. The Dalai Lama was the recipient of this prestigious award for the year 2019.

♦ Rigoberta Menchú Tum has devoted her life to advocating for Indigenous rights. Her tireless work has earned her numerous accolades, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1992 and the Princess of Asturias Award in 1998.

2024 International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Award

♦ Captain Avhilash Rawat and his crew have received the 2024 International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea. They were honoured for their "determination and endurance" during a rescue mission in the Red Sea, where they faced serious fire after their ship was hit by an anti-ship missile believed to be fired by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.

♦ The incident occurred on January 26, when the Marlin Luanda, carrying 84,147 tonnes of Naphtha, sailed from Suez to Incheon. Despite the missile strike causing a fire that threatened the entire ship, Captain Rawat efficiently coordinated firefighting efforts.

Russias most prestigious civilian honour

♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the 'Order of St Andrew the Apostle' by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 9 July 2024. This is Russia’s most prestigious civilian honour. The award recognizes PM Modi’s distinguished contribution to developing a privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India and fostering friendly ties between the two countries.

♦ This award was conferred upon Narendra Modi in 2019.

♦ The Order was established in 1698 by Tsar Peter the Great in honour of Saint Andrew, the first apostle of Jesus and patron saint of Russia, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle is awarded for the most outstanding civilian or military merit.

The Chevalier de la Légion dHonneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour)

♦ HCLTech chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra was conferred France's highest civilian honor, the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour). This is the highest civilian award given by the French Republic for outstanding service to France, regardless of the nationality of the recipients. 

♦ Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur was instituted in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. 

Honorary Leopard Achievement Award

♦ Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will receive the Honorary Leopard Achievement Award from the Locarno Film Festival. He will receive the award on August 10 at the open-air venue Piazza Grande. He is also the first Indian personality to be honoured with the 'Pardo alla Carriere Ascona-Locarno Tourism'. The previous recipients are Italian filmmaker Francesco Rosi, American singer-actor Harry Belafonte, and Malaysian director Tsai Ming-Liang.

♦ The Locarno Film Festival is a major international film festival, held annually in Locarno, Switzerland. This was established in 1946.
