Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent posts in Railways

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released CEN No. 04/2026 for the recruitment of Junior Engineers (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) in Indian Railways.

Details:

  • Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent: 3,993 posts.

  • 110 posts in Secunderabad Railway zone. .

RRB Regions: Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Gorakhpur, Jammu & Srinagar, Kolkata, Malda, Mumbai, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Prayagraj, Ranchi, Secunderabad, Siliguri, Thiruvananthapuram.

Departments: Electrical, Engineering, Mechanical, S&T Signal & Telecommunication, Stores.
Qualification: Candidates should possess the prescribed three-year Diploma in Engineering or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline, depending on the post. For the DMS post, candidates with a three-year Diploma in any Engineering discipline are eligible.

Age Limit: 18 to 33 years as of 01-01-2027. Upper age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates applies. Additional relaxation is available for PwBD, Ex-servicemen, and other categories as per regulations.

Starting Salary: Rs.35,400 per month.

Selection Process: Selection will be based on Stage-1 and Stage-2 computer-based written tests, document verification, and a railway medical test.

Exam Pattern: The objective-type question paper carries 100 marks: Mathematics (30 questions - 30 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 questions - 25 marks), General Awareness (15 questions - 15 marks), and General Science (30 questions - 30 marks). The total exam is for 100 marks. Duration: 90 minutes. One-third of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
CBT-II will consist of a total of 150 questions. The breakdown is as follows: General Awareness (15 questions, 15 marks); Physics & Chemistry (15 questions, 15 marks); Computer Basics & Applications (10 questions, 10 marks); Basics of Environment and Pollution Control (10 questions, 10 marks); and Technical Abilities (100 questions, 100 marks). The duration is 120 minutes. One-third of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
