Rithvik Bollipalli

N Sriram Balaji and his fellow Indian partner Rithvik Bollipalli won the men’s doubles title at the Citta' Di Rovereto 2024 on the ATP Challenger Tour in Italy on 23 November 2024.

The top seed Indian duo defeated second-seeded French tennis player Theo Arribage and his Portuguese partner Francisco Cabral 6-3, 2-6, 12-10 in the final.

This was Rithvik’s second title on the ATP Challenger Tour, having won the crown at the Almaty Open in Kazakhstan last month with Arjun Kadhe.

Jasprit Bumrah

India’s pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the number one spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for men’s Test bowlers.

The ICC rankings were released on 27 November 2024. South Africa's Rabada and Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood and Ravichandran Ashwin are in second, third and fourth places respectively.

Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal rose to career best second spot, behind only England's Joe Root.

Divith Reddy

Telangan's Divith Reddy (8) has won the gold medal at the Under-8 World Cadets Chess Championship in Montesilvano, Italy on 26 November 2024.

He accumulated nine points out of a maximum of 11, tying with compatriot Sattwik Swain.

However, Divith secured the gold based on his superior tiebreak score. Sattwik claimed silver, while Ziming Guo of China took the bronze.

Womens Asian Champions Trophy 2024

The Indian women’s hockey team won the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024.

The Indian team defeated China in the final. The match was held at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium, Bihar on 20 November 2024.

♦ This was India’s third Asian Champions Trophy, previously our country won the trophy in 2016 and 2023.

Ace archer V. Jyothi Surekha Vennam

♦ Ace archer V. Jyothi Surekha Vennam clinched a gold medal in the compound category of the World Indoor Archery Series in Luxembourg on 17 November 2024. She defeated Paasmeeri Marita of Belgium 147-145 in the final. 

♦ Earlier, in the semifinal, she got the better of Roner Elisa of Italy via shoot-out (148-148).

♦ The three-time Asian Games gold medallist incidentally bagged the gold for the second time in the Indoor Series.

International Hockey Federation (FIH)

The Indian men's hockey team was honoured by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) during the global governing body's Congress in Muscat on 8 November 2024.

FIH President Tayyab Ikram and French Hockey Federation chief Isabelle gave the prestigious award to Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh during the ceremony. 

The Indian team was honoured for winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.

Mandeep Jangra

Indian professional boxer Mandeep Jangra won the World Boxing Federation’s super featherweight world title in the Cayman Islands on 5 November 2024.

He defeated Britain’s Conor McIntosh in the final. Mandeep made his professional boxing debut in 2021.

Mandeep has won 11 out of his 12 fights in his pro career with seven being knockout victories.

He had a decent run in the amateur circuit as well and won a Commonwealth Games silver medal in the 2014 Glasgow edition.

Anahat Singh

 India's Anahat Singh secured her sixth PSA Challenger title at the Costa North Coast Open 2024 in Coffs Harbour, Australia on 3 November 2024.

 She defeated Japanese Akari Midorikawa 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-7) in the final to take the crown. 

 Anahat Singh won bronze medals in the women’s team and mixed doubles event at last year’s (2023) Hangzhou Asian Games.

 She won the JSW Willingdon Little Masters and Senior Tournament title in January 2024. 

 Anahat has also won the Indian senior and junior nationals this year (2024).

Krisha Verma

India’s Krisha Verma clinched a gold medal in the women's 75kg category at the U19 World Boxing Championships in Colorado, USA on 2 November 2024.

♦ She defeated Lerika Simon of Germany in the final. 

Chanchal Chaudhary (women's 48kg), Anjali Kumari Singh (women's 57kg), Vini (women's 60kg), Akanksha Phalaswal (women's 70kg) and Rahul Kundu (men's 75kg) won silver medals in the championships.
