National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise Workshop (SAREX-24)

♦ The 11th edition of the Indian Coast Guard’s National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise & Workshop (SAREX-24) was started in Kochi, Kerala on 27 November 2024.

♦ It aims to enhance India’s capabilities in maritime search and rescue (SAR) operations through a collaborative approach involving various national and international stakeholders.

♦ This was conducted under the aegis of the National Maritime Search and Rescue Board from November 27 to 30.

♦ The theme of this exercise is "Enhancing Search and Rescue capabilities through Regional collaboration." 

♦ The exercise is designed not only to evaluate efficiency of operations and coordination with national stakeholders but also to aptly focus on cooperative engagements with the littorals and Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs).
